Weight Plates

When it comes to building your home gym, the weight you lift matters, but so does the kind of plate you lift it with. Cast iron plates are the classic choice. Slim, durable, and cost-effective, they let you load more weight on your barbell without eating up space. If you're focused on traditional strength training (think bench, squat, or deadlift) cast iron gets the job done with no fuss and no fluff.

Bumper plates, on the other hand, are built for the drop. Made with high-density rubber and designed to absorb impact, they’re perfect for Olympic lifting, functional training, or anyone who likes to move fast and lift hard. Bumper plates protect your floor, your barbell, and your ears. Just clean, controlled movement whether you’re lifting in a garage, basement, or spare room.

Your home gym, your rules... but choosing the right weight plates can make all the difference in how you train. Start by thinking about your goals. If you're focused on traditional strength training like bench press, squats, or deadlifts, cast iron plates are a solid, space-saving option. They’re durable, compact, and allow you to load more weight on your bar without taking up extra room on the sleeve.

If you’re into Olympic lifts, functional fitness, or workouts where dropping the bar is part of the process, bumper plates are the way to go. Made with high-density rubber, they protect your floor and equipment, reduce noise, and make training safer, especially in a garage or basement setting.

Also consider your space and storage. Bumper plates take up more room but are quieter and floor-friendly. Cast iron plates are thinner and stack tighter. No matter what you choose, make sure your plates match your style of training—and your lifestyle.

Your home gym should work for you, not around a pile of scattered plates. Keeping your weight plates organized not only saves space, but it also keeps your training smooth and your setup looking clean. At PRx, we offer smart, space-saving solutions whether you want your gear off the floor or within arm’s reach.

If you're tight on floor space or just love a clean, elevated look, our wall-mounted weight plate storage is a game-changer. Built with heavy-duty steel and designed to install on your wooden studs, this vertical storage keeps your plates secure and out of the way. It’s the perfect complement to a folding rack or compact lifting zone, and it frees up room for everything else your gym needs.

Freestanding shelving is a great option for flexible storage and a more traditional gym feel. These setups give you easy access to your plates and can store other gear alongside your weights. Whether you're stacking bumpers, iron, or more, staying organized helps you lift better and train smarter.
