It is as firm as a wood box and so much safer. I am 6' 1" husky built fella 300lb
I been doing CrossFit for six years, boxes are my pain, been using chin guard for workouts with alot of them. I do well jump well, but seems almost anytime I am not wearing my guards I hit the box. Gym I am got one of these its so sturdy I am gonna buy one for my own equipment.

Love My Plyo Box!
I use it as part of a workout routine, leg day finisher, or just a workout itself. Doubles as bench for certain movements. It a must have for any home gym.

Shin saver
The foam on this box is great. It's in between soft and hard foam, so it is not unstable and it will not scrape your shins if you miss
