Fitting Fitness Into Life: Cody Smith

Owning a home gym has made fitness more accessible and integrated into Cody's busy life. It allows him to keep up with fitness without sacrificing time with his family. His gym also serves as a creative space for filming content for his online coaching business.

Cody Smith, a seasoned fitness coach, has owned PRx Performance equipment for three years. He built his home gym with a Profile® Pro Rack, barbell, bumper plates, pulley system, landmine, kettlebells, dumbbell rack, soft plyobox, medicine ball, abmat, plate storage, and storage rack. For Cody, having his own gym has always been a dream.

What drove his decision to invest in a home gym was his passion for fitness and coaching. As a coach, Cody wanted a space where he could train and inspire others, as well as himself. The convenience of a home gym benefited him and his children, who enjoy working out alongside him.

Cody encourages anyone considering a home gym to "just pull the trigger." He believes that once you have your own setup, you won't regret it. Fitness is the foundation for a fulfilling life. Showing it outside traditional gym setting is what it's all about.

Cody's journey into fitness began in 2001 when he was 15. By 2008, he was a certified personal trainer, going to college and working construction part-time.

His love for fitness led him to work in commercial gyms from 2008 to 2013 before opening a CrossFit gym in late 2013. He ran that gym until the spring of 2019, when he transitioned to remote coaching. Remote coaching was a move that inspired him to equip his garage with PRx gear.

Like anyone, Cody sometimes struggles with motivation, but having a garage gym makes it easier to manage. Balancing life and children’s activities can be challenging, but the gym keeps fitness integrated into family time.

Cody’s coaching approach emphasizes long-term results and helps clients see fitness as more than just weight loss. He focuses on fitting fitness into everyday life, creating routines that clients can maintain.

Cody says, “Training and nutrition are important, but that’s the easy stuff. Human behavior and emotions are the hard parts, but the most rewarding when you help someone have a breakthrough or help them see fitness for more than weight loss. And my whole approach is about long term results, helping them integrate fitness as a part of their routine and fit it into their life!”

Fitness is a core aspect of Cody's life. His home gym plays a vital role in supporting his mission to live a healthy, fulfilling life.
