Austin's Home Gym
I don’t have to drive anywhere. That alone makes a big difference. No getting in the car, no wasting time, no packing a bag. When I want to train, I walk out to the garage and start. It removes a lot of excuses.
There are also no lines. I don’t have to wait for a rack or change my workout because someone’s sitting on a machine scrolling their phone. Everything is right there. I can move at my own pace and get in and get out.
One of the biggest things for me is what happens after the workout. I’m already home. I can walk inside and start cooking dinner within a few minutes. There’s no drive back, no extra time added to my day. It just fits better into real life.
And in the summer, opening the garage door is hard to beat. Fresh air, sunlight, and just a better atmosphere overall. It doesn’t feel boxed in.
When I was setting up my space, I chose a half rack functional trainer because it gives me everything I need without taking up a ton of room. The footprint is small, but it still stores all my attachments and accessories right on the unit, which keeps the garage clean and organized.
I also really like using cable resistance in most of my workouts. With the functional trainer built in, I can superset easily between barbell work and cable movements
And honestly, I just love chest flys. Being able to adjust the cables exactly where I want them and dial in the angle makes a big difference.
For me, it’s about efficiency. I get strength work, cable work, and accessory storage all in one setup without needing a full commercial gym worth of equipment.
It’s simple, it’s convenient, and it works for my schedule.
